Alila Villas Uluwatu - Sustainable Luxury On The Edge Of The World

Location:

Uluwatu Indonesia Oceania
BeachLuxury

Villas Uluwatu is a resort resting on an elevated plateau that catches warm breezes from the Indian Ocean. Not only did the British Sunday Times name it one of the top 100 hotels in the world but it is certified by sustainable tourist organization, EarthCheck. WOHA, the award-winning design team, created these villas using locally-sourced materials.

Each villa has its own private pool, outdoor cabana, and lava rock roof and bamboo ceiling that allows the cooling breeze to circulate. Your villa is connected to the rest of the resort by a series of walkways and bridges. Take a walk to Spa Alila where holistic treatments focus on nutrition, meditation, and massage. The resort’s living area features a cabana that overhangs a sea cliff and captures each tropical sunset beautifully.

Tailor-made “journeys” are on offer including excursions to ancient temples, local markets, and the chance to serve at the neighborhood orphanage which is supported by the resort.

Palacio del Inka, Cusco - Inside a 500-Year-Old Mansion: Stone, Gold, and a Baby Alpaca Named Inti

Most hotels describe themselves as historic. Palacio del Inka was a palace, then a Spanish colonial mansion, then a museum, and is now asking if you'd like a pisco sour. The stones - massive, fitted without mortar with an Incan precision that has outlasted earthquakes - belonged to Qorikancha, the …
