While the exterior of this luxury hotel is rather unassuming as it blends in seamlessly with the rest of the neighborhood, don’t be fooled. The Andaz Amsterdam, located in the city’s Jordaan district, is hip and stylish with contemporary furnishings and friendly staff. This 122-room hotel is steps away from Amsterdam’s famous Nine Streets, as well as the Anne Frank house, Van Gogh Museum, and countless bars and cafes.
What makes this particular Andaz hotel unique are the stories hidden within the designs of the space itself. Nicknamed “Wandazland,” Dutch designer Marcel Wanders has created a world based on the popular Alice in Wonderland. Unique half fish-half object fixtures found in each of the rooms are said to represent “the open minds and versatility of Amsterdammers.” Wanders draws on a theme of “connecting polarities” throughout the Andaz Amsterdam, “stitching together two non-related elements to create a new logical whole,” according to the hotel’s website.
This Andaz location also includes a 24-hour gym, currency exchange, silent garden, and bicycles for guests to rent. Guests can also choose to relax for a bit in the hotel’s library or the whimsical lounge space. Hungry? The Bluespoon Restaurant has you covered with local produce and family-style dining. Quench your thirst at the Bluespoon Bar, open until 1 AM every day (2 AM on Fridays and Saturdays). If you’re looking for a great deal, Andaz Amsterdam offers guests a free night when booking a minimum of three nights (valid through 2019 in low season and upon availability only).
Guests of Andaz hotels are also welcomed with free internet, soft drinks, and snacks.
