This hotel loves nature. They like to make olive oil from their own trees - in fact; you can get involved and learn the ancient art of extracting the rejuvenating and delicious oil yourself. Then you can bake your own bread using the special herbs that grow nearby and learn to use the historic Anatolian wood-fired stone oven. Bread is best baked in the morning. So after that, you will want to head out into the azure sea sailing on an open canvas or pulling a boat.

The hotel has its own art room which curates the best in contemporary and traditional Turkish artworks. The organic kitchen prides itself on using the freshest ingredients and, of course, the hotel’s own olive oil. The healthy Mediterranean cuisine will have you dining on cheese, bread, and seafood. Sleep in a traditional Anatolian stone cottage. Each one is secluded in the natural environment for privacy. At the Anik Zeytin Hotel, you will find nature once again.

The Walled Off Hotel - Banksy's Fight Against the Wall

Banksy calls it a three-story cure for fanaticism, though on arrival what you actually notice first is how close the wall is – close enough that most rooms get barely 25 minutes of direct sunlight a day. The Walled Off Hotel, part functioning hotel, part gallery, part museum, and part …

Domaine du Château des Pères - A Gorilla, a Michelin Star, and a Hotel in a Tree

There's a giant gorilla watching over the grounds. A wolf, frozen mid-sprint, tears through the woodland. And somewhere above the kitchen garden, suspended nearly 28 meters (92 feet) off the ground in a pod that looks like it belongs in a 1970s science fiction paperback, someone is waking up to …

Sal Salis - Where The Outback Meets The Reef

You can fly across most of Western Australia and see barely a soul below – just red earth, then blue water, then more red earth. Sal Salis sits right where those two extremes collide: a scattering of safari tents dropped between a national park full of gorges and kangaroos, and …

Feynan Ecolodge - Off the Grid and Off the Map

There are no light switches at Feynan Ecolodge. No minibar, no television, no electricity sockets in the rooms. What you get instead is candlelight flickering off stone walls, a sky so dense with stars it feels structural, and the sound of nothing in particular. Located deep inside Jordan's Dana Biosphere …

Capitol Reef Resort - Wagons, Teepees, And A Park Utah Forgot To Brag About

A single photograph did it: covered wagons parked against blood-red cliffs, looking more like a Western film set than a working hotel. It turns out the wagons are real, they're bookable, and they sit a mile from the entrance to one of Utah's quietest national parks - one so overshadowed …

Hotel Icefiord - Ilulissat's Front Row Seat To The Ice

At Hotel Icefiord in Ilulissat, Greenland, the staff keep a chalkboard in the restaurant where they mark a line for every whale spotted from the terrace each month. Some months it fills up fast. It's a bit of a running joke among them, but it also sums up the whole …

Berghotel Obersteinberg - Inside the Family Guesthouse Running On Candlelight and Cheese

Millions of people pour into Switzerland's Jungfrau region every year, and almost all of them stick to the same handful of villages and viewpoints. Berghotel Obersteinberg is not one of them. To get here you climb 850 vertical meters (2,790 feet) above Stechelberg on foot, since no road, cable car, …

Ulaman Eco Luxury Resort - A Bamboo Sanctuary In The Tabanan Jungle

There's a version of "eco resort" that means a few solar panels and a sign about towel reuse. Ulaman is not that. This is a place where the walls are literally compressed earth, the staircases are woven bamboo, and there's a hand-carved wine cave hidden behind a stone wall that …
