If you want to travel about 800 years back in time, you need to visit Ashford Castle's picturesque halls and grounds. It is a magnificent castle built in 1228 and is set on 350 acres of sprawling woodlands on the shores of Lough Corrib (Corrib Lake).

The ancient Irish castle has been converted into a 5-star hotel that offers 82 guestrooms, staterooms, and suites. Ashford was closed for the final phase of its restoration program in recent years but has since re-opened.

Ashford castle frequently plays host to foreign dignitaries, celebrities, and even royalty. The castle was also home to the first School of Falconry in Ireland. Another great feature of the hotel is that its services, tours, activities, and events will vary based on the time of the year that you visit. They offer many activities, including equestrian outings, falconry lessons, fishing, golfing, skeet shooting, spa treatment, boat trips, tennis, and luxury yacht charters.

Parador de Cardona - Sleeping in a Castle That Never Surrendered

There's a building in the Catalan countryside that spent eleven centuries refusing to fall. Auberge Aux 4 Vents - The Swiss Hotel Where You Can Take a Bath Outdoors - From the Second Floor

Between Fribourg's medieval rooftops and a park full of century-old beeches, a renovated 17th-century manor is doing something quietly remarkable. Auberge aux 4 Vents is not a boutique hotel in the algorithmic sense - all reclaimed wood and oat milk. It is something older and stranger: a patrician country manor …
