Hotel Glymur - One Of The World’s Best Hot Tubs Is In Iceland

Location:

Hvalfjarðarsveit Iceland West Europe
NatureRemote

Iceland: the original land of ice and fire. Just a short drive from the capital city, Reykjavík, is Hotel Glymur which overlooks the azure waters of the Whale Fjord. The hotel was named after the Glymur waterfall, one of the highest in Europe. You can visit it during your stay.

The décor is quirky and comfortable and features many rare artifacts from the owner’s private collection run by a husband and wife team.

There is a modern conferencing suite and many warm reading rooms to suit your purpose. Take a drink at the honesty bar, and then head to bed in your beautiful mezzanine suite.

During the day, walk along the coastline where cliffs bunch by the sea like a rocky duvet. Then return to the hotel and gaze at the marvelous view while sitting in the bubbly hot tub.

Book in summer and enjoy round-the-clock daylight or choose to go in winter and catch a glimpse of the elusive Northern Lights.

Sacred Sands - Straw Walls, Cast-Iron Tubs, and the Darkest Sky in California

The walls at Sacred Sands are packed with straw. Not metaphorically - straw bale construction means compacted bales stacked, framed, and finished in terracotta clay, resulting in walls so thick they function as their own acoustic system, insulation layer, and fire barrier all at once. Wild Hill, Kenya - The Safari Lodge That Grew Out Of A Bean Farm

There's a secret door built into a hillside in Kenya. Step through it, walk a short tunnel, and you emerge to one of the most disorienting views in East Africa: a vast, golden sweep of Maasai Mara plains stretching 2,000 feet (610 meters) below you, lit by shafts of afternoon …

Feynan Ecolodge - Off the Grid and Off the Map

There are no light switches at Feynan Ecolodge. No minibar, no television, no electricity sockets in the rooms. Minaret Station - New Zealand's Helicopter-Only Alpine Lodge Where Everything Else Drops Away

The Lindis - A Lodge Built to Masquerade as 10,000-Year-Old Glacial Debris

You won't see The Lindis until you're practically standing on it. That's exactly the point. This eight-room lodge sits so low and still in New Zealand's Ahuriri Valley that it might as well be part of the moraine itself – the geological rubble left behind when glaciers retreated 10,000 years …
