HOTELS Hotel Im Wasserturm - 140-Year-Old Water Tower

Hotel Im Wasserturm - 140-Year-Old Water Tower

Location:

Cologne Germany West Europe
Luxury

Once, it was Europe’s biggest water tower, now it is one of the best conversion jobs in the world. In this 130-year-old building, you will stay inside a design job worth $75 million. The 11-meter high lobby is as impressive as the collection of art hanging on the walls, including pieces by Warhol.

Your room is designed to fit into the architecture and you will find a marvelously mosaic bathroom of marble. Floor-to-ceiling windows are a common sight. Or if you are in the top suites, you will have the use of two floors, Soundsystem, and whirlpool. The hotel hosts the annual trade fair for the confectionery industry featuring a keynote speech by Augustus Gloop. Only joking.

There are loads of unique and unusual museums and sights of historical interest to arouse your curiosity when exploring the local area. You can enjoy amazing views in the 2 Michelin starred restaurant on the top floor serving contemporary German cuisine and in summer you can sit outside on the roof terrace.

Palacio del Inka, Cusco - Inside a 500-Year-Old Mansion: Stone, Gold, and a Baby Alpaca Named Inti

Most hotels describe themselves as historic. Palacio del Inka was a palace, then a Spanish colonial mansion, then a museum, and is now asking if you'd like a pisco sour. The stones - massive, fitted without mortar with an Incan precision that has outlasted earthquakes - belonged to Qorikancha, the …

Sunborn Gibraltar - The World's Only Five-Star Floating Hotel Is Moored in Gibraltar

You cross an active airport runway to get there. The building you're sleeping in was built in Malaysia and transported across the ocean on a ship. Barbary macaque monkeys live on the limestone rock looming outside your window. And you're permanently at sea - except you're not, because the vessel …
