Old Smock Mill - Romantic 19th-Century Windmill In The UK

Location:

Benenden United Kingdom West Europe
Windmill

The Old Smock Mill was originally constructed at the beginning of the 19th century. The recent renovation aimed to keep as much of the original workings as possible. Around the first floor runs the newly re-built exterior oak staging, used as a balcony to enjoy the marvelous sunsets and British countryside.

This romantic getaway is located on the upper three floors of the Windmill. Inside, you can find high ceilings, massive wooden beams, wooden flooring, and creatively designed interiors. The original machinery has been preserved where possible, resulting in a fusion of old and modern and creating an exceptionally relaxing atmosphere.

Nearby you can find several National Trust properties: Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, Bodiam Castle. Pashley Manor, Great Dixter House, and Garden and Bedgebury Pinetum. River Rother runs nearby where you can rent a rowing boat, there are Camber sands where you can swim, or you can go for strolls and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Kent’s countryside.
