The region east of the Rhine River, known as the Grisons, has become world famous for its excellent wines and stunning views. While there are many luxurious and cosy accommodations, Schlaf-Fass is the only place where you can actually stay inside your own wine barrel. This quirky and imaginative destination has painstakingly converted each 8000-litre barrel into a modern and comfortable guestroom.
Each room actually consists of two barrels that have been modified into separate living and sleeping quarters. The design elements were chosen with a special emphasis on the details. Guests have the option between single and double beds, and each room provides tranquil views of the vineyards.
The staff’s attention to detail is sure to make your stay unforgettable. During your stay, they prepare food baskets full of culinary delights customized to your tastes. They will be sure to arrange excursions to nearby vineyards, or Torkel, so that you can sample many of the world renowned wines from the region. However, guests can also enjoy romantic carriage rides through the countryside, hike the mountain trails and lakes near Pizol, or visit the Alpine village of Maienfeld made famous in the classic novel, Heidi. In winter, guests also are in close proximity to cross-country skiing and snow shoe trails around the mountain. The local cable cars also offer a unique perspective of the natural landscape.
Nature lovers and wine enthusiasts alike will enjoy an unforgettable visit and fascinating accommodations unlike any other in the world.
