SiloStay - Unique Stay In Industrial Steel Silos In New Zealand

Location:

Little River New Zealand Oceania
Industrial

Looking for a sustainable spot for your next getaway? Want a “green” vacation that you can feel good about? Check out SiloStay! This unique spot is located in Little River, New Zealand, a small town with a population of just over a thousand people. The founders of SiloStay are “going against the grain” by inviting guests to stay in these repurposed grain silos.

Each of the nine silos includes a queen bed, bathroom, kitchen, and cozy living area. From the pellet boiler system and Biolytix wastewater system to the LED lights and wool insulation (no animals harmed!), every aspect of these silos has been sustainably configured. Ever see a toilet that also functions as a sink? Now you can! In fact, the flusher turns on the water, and your waste feeds Tiger worms in the worm farm! Bet you can’t say that for any other place you’ve ever stayed.

Surrounded by mountains and nature trails, SiloStay is a great spot to spend a night or two. Hungry? SiloStay apartments are set up for guests to cook themselves. However, you can purchase gourmet microwave meals that are prepared fresh daily. There are also plenty of dining options just a short drive away!

Winebox Valparaíso - How a Kiwi Winemaker Built Chile's Coolest Container Hotel

On Cerro Mariposa in Chile's bohemian port city, WineBox Valparaíso is a hotel that stopped caring what traditional hospitality thinks. John & Will Hotel Bremen - The Kellogg's Factory Hotel Built Inside Actual Grain Silos

Most hotel conversions play it safe – turn the factory into lofts, make the warehouse feel homey. The John & Will Silo-Hotel in Bremen took a different approach: they grabbed sledgehammers and started carving guest rooms out of concrete grain silos. The result? 117 uniquely shaped rooms spread across 13 …
