Tsala Treetop Lodge - Secluded Forest Hideaway Along The Garden Route

Location:

Plettenberg Bay South Africa Africa
LuxuryNature

A short drive from Africa's southernmost tip, Tsala Treetop Lodge is a charming getaway along the Garden Route. This 300-kilometer (190 miles) long stretch of scenic route is a must if you plan a road trip in South Africa. The name comes from the beautifully diverse vegetation and the estuaries and lakes along the way.

Tsara is a magical getaway in a secluded forest. The uniquely designed treehouses are perched above a valley of green canopies. The floor-to-ceiling windows present a spectacular view of the jewel of the Garden Route, but it's the private balconies that will sweep you off your feet. Take a binocular with you, and you can spend the whole day with wildlife spotting.

The ten treetop suites are the epitome of romantic hideaways. The elegant sitting room is equipped with a fireplace and opens up to the outdoor space. The royal-sized bathroom's central piece is a self-standing bathtub made of stone. Apart from the suites, there are six luxurious treetop villas with two bedrooms as well as indoor and outdoor showers. Extra perks include a large outdoor deck and a private infinity pool overlooking the lush greenery.

The glass-walled dining room in the main building is where breakfast, lunch, and romantic dinners are served. The best part is the outdoor dining deck that's suspended above the forest floor. In here, a cup of coffee or sipping one of South Africa's delicious wines will be a unique experience in itself. The on-site wine cellar stores a collection of bottles from South Africa's top winemakers. Are you planning to get married? The lodge has its romantic little chapel surrounded by the indigenous forest, allowing 50 guests to enter the holy ceremony.

Most hotels describe themselves as historic. Palacio del Inka was a palace, then a Spanish colonial mansion, then a museum, and is now asking if you'd like a pisco sour.
