Baumhaushotel Solling - Dreamy Treehouses In An Experimental Forest

Nov. 26, 2012 by UNIQ Hotels

Location:

Schönhagen Germany West Europe
NatureTreehouse

The Baumhaus Hotel has seven separate treehouses for you to choose from. They are all made from untreated local wood, stand 5-7 meters high, and each one has a dreamy balcony.

The houses are insulated and heated so you can be toasty warm while winter rages outside. Showers are near the treehouse by the firepit, where you can drink cocoa in the evenings.

The treehouses are located in the experimental forest of Schönhagen – a popular tourist destination with plenty to see and do. ‘The Castle’ is one of the treehouses on offer, and it is built like a medieval castle.

But rather than being a tool to oppress the masses, this Castle is more like an opportunity to crush boring holidays! There is a high battlement from where you can see stunning views of the surrounding area.

The ‘Tree Dream’ is another treehouse and features little rooms suspended by carbon fiber, while the large ‘Roundhouse’ is a delicious wooden donut… with a family filling...? I don’t know; get your own metaphor.

Millions of people pour into Switzerland's Jungfrau region every year, and almost all of them stick to the same handful of villages and viewpoints. Berghotel Obersteinberg is not one of them. Ulaman Eco Luxury Resort - A Bamboo Sanctuary In The Tabanan Jungle

There's a version of "eco resort" that means a few solar panels and a sign about towel reuse. Ulaman is not that. This is a place where the walls are literally compressed earth, the staircases are woven bamboo, and there's a hand-carved wine cave hidden behind a stone wall that …

Mfuwe Lodge - The Safari Camp Where Elephants Stroll Through The Lobby

There are wildlife encounters, and then there's watching a family of wild elephants amble straight through a hotel reception on their way to raid a mango tree. At Mfuwe Lodge, in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park, this isn't a staged photo opportunity or a rare fluke. It's an annual event …

Bluff Dwellings Resort & Spa - A Desert Hideaway Built Into The Rocks

In the far southeastern corner of Utah, where the Colorado Plateau breaks apart into red rock and silence, a resort sits pressed against 60-meter (200-foot) sandstone cliffs as though it has always been there. Bluff Dwellings Resort & Spa is 10 buildings and 56 rooms stacked and weathered-looking against the …

Aura House Bali - IBUKU's Three-Story Bamboo Villa Above Bali's Ayung River

There are places you visit and places that visit you back. Aura House, a hand-shaped bamboo structure curling along the edge of Bali's Ayung River gorge, belongs firmly in the second category. Conversas de Alpendre, Algarve - A Rural Hideaway With Soul

Someone actually did it. Quit the city, moved somewhere beautiful, and built something meaningful from scratch - and the result is one of those rare places that feels genuinely lived-in and loved rather than assembled by a hospitality consultant. Built into the rural eastern Algarve near the village of Cacela …

Sanctuary Treehouse Resort - Tennessee's Most Playful Luxury Resort

Sanctuary Treehouse Resort in Sevierville, Tennessee, is the world's first and largest interactive treehouse resort, which is one way to put it. Another is that someone built a 6-meter (20-foot) slide off the bedroom, installed a drink chute between floors so you never have to carry your own beverage up …

The Mohicans - Ohio's Most Extraordinary Treehouse Resort

At The Mohicans Treehouse Resort in rural Ohio, a vintage Airstream hangs 7.5 meters (25 feet) in the air, Pete Nelson-designed cabins perch among century-old pines, and the entire place was built largely by Amish craftsmen using reclaimed barn wood. Deep in the forested hills of Knox County, an hour …
