Belmond Eagle Island Lodge - Exclusive Private Island Retreat In Botswana

Location:

Xaxaba Botswana Africa
Nature

Belmond Eagle Island Lodge is over one hundred years old, and even though the rooms and amenities are modern, the serene surroundings seem timeless. Set on a private island on the Okavango Delta, Botswana, this eco-lodge is right at the heart of a pristine African wilderness.

The tented rooms are designed as the ultimate sanctuaries of luxury. With an oversized bed, lush interiors, and a private plunge pool, expect your stay here to be nothing short of perfection. Stays are full board with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This will not be your usual dining experience as lunches can take the form of sumptuous safari picnics, and dinners turn into campsite feasts under the stars. Make sure to enjoy a sunset drink at the Fish-Eagle Bar, which offers stunning views of the delta and is frequently visited by the lodge’s friendly “resident” elephant.

The adventures at the Belmond are almost endless. The signature package includes a helicopter flight over the delta followed by a horseback safari, but if you’re not a rider, you can also opt for a game drive or a safari walk. With the abundance of wildlife in the area, you are guaranteed to see at least some of the fantastic species that call this place a home: elephants, buffalo, hippo, zebras, crocodiles, and the big cats. During the flood, don’t miss out on exploring the delta by boat, especially on a sunrise cruise.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Belmond Lodge special packages where you can visit Eagle Island and the two other safari lodges on an organized tour with celebrity guests. The previous ones included the author Alexander McCall Smith and model and TV personality Jodie Kidd.

Rosewood Luang Prabang - Jungle Luxury in Laos's Spiritual Heartland

In the forested hills above Luang Prabang, architect Bill Bensley has conjured something wonderfully eccentric: a 23-room resort that reimagines a 19th-century French colonial hill station, complete with safari-style tents perched in the treetops.
