HOTELS Indigo Pearl - Visionary Design In Hypnotic Surroundings

Indigo Pearl - Visionary Design In Hypnotic Surroundings

Location:

Phuket Thailand Southeast Asia
DesignLuxurySpa

This beachside property is set against a backdrop of a rainforest – home to rare species. Rarer still is your experience at this unique hotel. Renowned architect, Bill Bensley helped with the refurb using reclaimed materials and found curios. For example, the iron coffee tables in the lobby were made from grills found in an old Phuket Town factory. The reception counter has been made from driftwood.

There are two infinity pools set in a lush plantation of tropical leaves, where birds of paradise fly. All the popular water sports are available in the warm sea - grasp at jewel-like schools of fish or tear up the surf on water-skis. There are many suites to choose from. The largest have their own private pool and spa. There are six different restaurants. You can eat the famously delicious Thai cuisine or go for the fine dining option at the Rivet Grill. The bar has everything you could wish for and a selection of fine single malts.

In the 1890s, this building on Robertson Quay was ground zero for Singapore's red-light district, a hub for opium dens, gambling houses, and Chinese secret societies who demanded 36 sacred oaths from new recruits. The street was known in Hokkien as "Chiu Long Lo" – Spirits Shed Street – after …

Les Sources de Caudalie - Among the Vines: A Palace Hotel That Has a Soul

There's a moment, sometime between your first glass of Pessac-Léognan and your third hour of doing absolutely nothing by an indoor pool, when Les Sources de Caudalie stops feeling like a hotel and starts feeling suspiciously like someone's very beautiful home that you've been allowed to borrow for a few …

Huus Quell - In the Swiss Alps, a Hotelier Built His Dream From Moonwood

There's a button on the door of your room at Huus Quell that cuts the Wi-Fi. It's a small thing, but it tells you everything about what Jan Schoch is going for here. The founder of Switzerland's first tech unicorn, a former Goldman Sachs man who spent years on Wall …
