Isla Kalua - Private Villa in the Middle of the Caribbean Sea

Location:

Islas del Rosario Colombia South America
BeachIslandRemote

Isla Kalua is one of Colombia's coolest rentals, built in the shallow waters of the Caribbean Sea. It's where you can take all your friends and chill in a scenic spot surrounded by water. Dance all night long, have a tasty breakfast prepped by the chefs, and dip into the water whenever you like. The island is all yours!

The tropical-style buildings have thatched roofs and line up on the tiny artificial island made of rocks. An amazing pool faces the sea on both sides. You can have perfect sunsets and sunrises here, as nothing blocks your view.

Isla Kalua in the Caribbean Sea

Isla Kalua

There are two ways to reach this Caribbean paradise. You can take a ferry from Cartagena to Barú and then transfer to a small boat, "lancha pequeña," which takes a total of about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can charter a larger boat directly from Cartagena, which will get you there in just 45 minutes.

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Terrace

The friendly on-site staff will take good care of you. Among them are chefs who prepare the food, and you can get wellness treatments. The most interesting one is the "cocotherapy", which has nothing to do with the white powder product of Latin America. It's a full-body cover with sea salts and shaved coconut flakes. Sounds delicious! However, if you get hungry, there are better things to eat.

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Chef Prepared Meals

The chefs can prepare five different breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Catch of the Day

One of the lunch option is the catch of the day

For breakfast, you can have fresh fruits, various styles of eggs, and empanadas. Lunch features seafood (catch of the day) served with rice or, as an alternative, chicken. Dinner offers the most variety, with choices ranging from tacos to grilled salmon.

The chefs can accommodate vegetarians. You will also receive snacks, freshly squeezed juices, and alcoholic drinks (wines, beer, and prosecco) - some for an extra fee.

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Bedroom

The villa has two bathrooms and four bedrooms. Three have queen/king-sized beds for couples, and there is a room with four beds for all your single friends.

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Handmade Wooden Furniture

The wooden furniture are handcrafted by locals

The price per night covers the entire villa, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and accommodation for up to 20 people.

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Balcony Sun Loungers

Sun loungers on the balcony attached to the bedroom

You can personalize your stay and book the following activities:

• yoga classes • paddle boarding • kitesurfing • scuba diving • kayaking • massages • snorkeling with a guide

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Terrace with a Hammock

But even without extra adventures, spending the day chillin' in the hammock and jumping from the pool into the sea is a day well spent.

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Hammocks

You can relax in a hammock and listen to the sound of waves

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Swimming Pool

You can jump from the pool to the sea

Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Terrace Greenery
Isla Kalua Ocean Villa Sea View
Isla Kalua Scarlet Macaws

Scarlet macaws are frequent visitors to the island

Isla Kalua Inflatable Boat

Float & chill is what this inflatable boat was made for

If you are traveling alone or find the price for renting Isla Kalua too high, there is a nearby hostel on its own island where you can have a similar experience shared with other travelers - Casa en el Agua.
