Jo&Joe Vienna
The JO&JOE Vienna is a hip hotel/hostel on the fifth and sixth floors of IKEA at Vienna's Westbahnhof, famous for its striking architecture.
Vienna's centrally located IKEA has a metal skeleton frame with modular containers filling the gaps and solar panels on its rooftop. Bird nests, beehives, 160 trees, solar energy—all these unusual features are packed into the new IKEA building in the center of Austria's capital. It's an unusually cool sight!
This is a new sustainable IKEA store designed for a car-free lifestyle, so it doesn't even have parking spaces. Smaller products that can be transported by public transport or bicycle can be bought on-site.
The store has over 3,000 items in stock for take-away. All larger products are delivered by electric vehicles or can be ordered for collection via Click & Collect. Welcome to the new and comfy world of city dwellers!

Jo&Joe Vienna is a fruitful collaboration between two famous brands, IKEA and Accor Hotels. It's like a typical IKEA store with practical home stuff and meat (or nowadays more like plant-based) balls, but with two extra floors and a rooftop to fill it with life even after the opening hours. There is even a cinema room in this quirky hotel/hostel!

When the store closes, the top floors are still lively, with visitors and locals having snacks and drinks on the rooftop terrace—one of the biggest in the city. How has nobody thought of this cool concept before?
Although there is already an IKEA Hotel—the only one in the world—, it's just a regular hotel, while this Jo&Joe in Vienna mixes the advantages of an IKEA store, hotel, hostel, and even rooftop bar.
The hostel's relaxed atmosphere is created by its down-to-earth and friendly staff and the street art decorating the public spaces and rooms. The interiors have been transformed into stunning works of art by international urban artists Lady K, Reso, Dinho Bento, and Skirl.
Jo&Joe's bar, which turns into the gathering point in the evenings, has a great selection of local drafts and bottled beers, wine, and craft cocktails.
Self-service beer
For introverts, there is also self-service beer, and it's one of the cheapest you can find in Vienna.
Jo&Joe's signature furniture design is a giant pizza sofa

Dormitory with a panorama? Oh, yes!
The dormitory bunks are made of timber wood, and thanks to the large windows, you can wake up in the morning with the sun and enjoy a great view of Vienna.
Triple room
There is also a separate women's dormitory.
Twin room
On top of JO&JOE and IKEA is a large rooftop terrace full of trees where drinks and snacks are served from two container bars.
The seventh-floor roof terrace is also open to the public, and it houses the world's first IKEA snack bar, TOPPEN (which means "top!" in Swedish).
They have ice-cold cocktails and a couple of (really affordable) wines. However, if you want to get a pizza or a burger, you have to order it at the restaurant two floors below. Then, you get a token that lets you know when the food is ready to be picked up on the roof terrace.
The shared rooftop of IKEA and the hostel has one of the best views of Vienna. As you can imagine, this kind of panorama works as a magnet, and IKEA/Jo&Joe organizes events there from time to time. If you are lucky, you can participate in a free open-air yoga class during your stay.
The best part of this hostel is that when you have a major hangover after a fun night out, you can get the all-so-familiar comfort food of IKEA a few floors below the hostel, including their snack bar with hot dogs and meatballs. Plus, at IKEA cafe, you can start your day with the cheapest breakfast you can find in all of Vienna!
