La Mamounia Marrakech - Luxurious Moroccan Palace

The La Mamounia Marrakech is truly a luxurious hotel that has aged remarkably, even 90 years after its creation. The La Mamounia Park is covered in greenery and gives you 20 acres of garden backdrop with fruit trees, flowers, and even olive trees. Meanwhile, the in-house luxuries have won multiple awards from worldwide organizations for its spa and well center, with a massive indoor pool and a beauty salon.

Four restaurants are on-site and five bars, a wine cellar, and a room service option. One of the more unique aspects of the hotel is its love of art, and there are both permanent and temporary exhibits on hand, celebrating photography as well as sculptures and paintings. The architecture alone is worth coming for, with its exotic mix of Arab-Moorish style, but the rooms are a treasure in their own right.

There are tiers of luxury, but even the standard rooms have king-sized beds, baths, showers, terraces/balconies. Meanwhile, signature rooms like the Churchill Room feature elegant décor, art, and luxuries inspired by Winston Churchill. The Riad rooms put you in the midst of the garden for a tickling of the senses. This is truly one of Morocco’s greatest single attractions anywhere, in addition to being quality accommodation.

Palacio del Inka, Cusco - Inside a 500-Year-Old Mansion: Stone, Gold, and a Baby Alpaca Named Inti

Most hotels describe themselves as historic. Palacio del Inka was a palace, then a Spanish colonial mansion, then a museum, and is now asking if you'd like a pisco sour. The stones - massive, fitted without mortar with an Incan precision that has outlasted earthquakes - belonged to Qorikancha, the …

Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa - The River That Fell Out of a Volcano

There's a river running through this resort that no engineer designed. It seeps out of the earth at the base of Arenal Volcano, picks up heat and minerals from somewhere deep underground, and winds through 7,790 sq m (83,880 sq ft) of rainforest garden before you even get to stick …

Hotel Maměnka - A Fairytale Mountain Lodge That Burned Down – and Rose from the Ashes

Libušín sits on a mountain pass in the Czech Republic's Moravian-Silesian Beskids, looking like something out of a Brothers Grimm tale. This isn't some modern Alpine resort masquerading as traditional – it's the real deal, a wooden lodge dripping with hand-carved details and Art Nouveau flourishes that somehow manages to …

Kato Dool Wellness Resort - A Technicolor Refuge on the Nile

Some places whisper, and some shout. Kato Dool does something in between – it hums. Sprawled across a hillside in Aswan's Nubian village of Gharb Soheil, this wellness resort is painted in shades that could make a sunset jealous: turmeric yellows, coral pinks, sky blues. It's the kind of place …

Rancho de los Caballeros - A Desert Ranch Where Cowboys Still Roam Free
