What happens when you give two award winning Brazilian furniture designers complete control in designing a brand new hotel near the famous Plaka district in Athens? Have you ever seen (or imagined) giant room columns made of scrap wood, or every nook and cranny filled with handmade custom furniture and fixtures? Well if you haven’t, you should see this one.
The hotel was designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana, who were the first Brazilian artist to be featured at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. It’s located on the site of the former Olympic Palace Hotel, and the brothers incorporated many of the previous features into the new design. To top that off, the rooftop bar, Art Lounge, features amazing views of the Acropolis and the Athens skyline. The Art Lounge is more than just a name, as it has over 2000 art books to get inspired from while sipping on a cocktail. The breakfast buffet is beyond delicious. Give a try to the fresh pistachio bread in particular! There is also a fully stocked on-site gym that is open 24 hours in case you feel like running off all the feta and souvlaki from the day before. If you didn't quite stretch enough after your jog on the treadmill, the wellness spa has got you covered from the traditional deep tissue, to the hot sea shell massage.
If you’re looking for a hotel that is itself a work of art, then this is the place for you. Happy exploring!
