The Mesui Hotel Bukit Bintang - 70s Hotel In Malaysia With Unique Round Window Facade

Location:

Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Southeast Asia
Design

The Mesui Hotel in Kuala Lumpur is hard to miss, thanks to the very distinct facade featuring giant circular windows (think huge washing machines stacked upon each other). This unique design is owed to the extravagant 70s aesthetic trends. Today the hotel is a happy marriage of the original architecture from the era and modern improvements.

In line with the history of the building, the lobby and the inner courtyard feature elements of subtle retro nostalgia. You’ll find velvet armchairs, nailhead sofas, big, bold patterns, and an abundance of potted plants here. However, the undisputed highlight of this space is the lush green wall of the courtyard covered with plants from floor to roof.

The rooms at the Mesui have a more contemporary feel. Book one of the Luxe rooms if you want to have the signature round window all to yourself (recommended!). The Lush rooms are similar in design but have ordinary windows and face the quiet inner courtyard.

The Mesui Hotel is conveniently located in Bukit Bintang, a lively shopping and entertainment district of Kuala Lumpur, so you’ll be surrounded by restaurants, bars, and nightlife on all fronts. The famous Petronas Towers are just a 15-minute walk away, and the main attractions are easily accessible by public transport. You can head to the nearby Heli Lounge Bar set on a real helipad for a spectacular view of the city skyline.
