Hotel Silken Puerta América Madrid – Designed By The Biggest Architects In The World

Location:

Madrid Spain West Europe
ArtDesignLuxury

This is one of the most ambitious design hotels in the world. Why have one or two prize-winning architects when you can have 19? Creative freedom is the ethos of the hotel which cost an estimated 75million Euro to finance. Each architect was given a free rein over one floor or feature of the hotel. So each of the 12 floors is magnificently different.

The Plasma Studio took over the fourth-floor creating rooms with stunning geometry and hallways that resemble the inside of a foil tube. The first woman to win the Pritzker Prize (the Nobel Prize of architecture), Zaha Hadid has designed the first floor full of sinuous lines and flowing spaces. Another Pritzker Prize winner, Oscar Niemeyer has created a sculpture for the car park. Some architects have created spaces that resemble a bathhouse, or take influence from Japanese Zen; either way, you are guaranteed to be awe-inspired when spending the night in these unique spaces.

Maison Mystique - A Thai Hotel So Wes Anderson It Hurts

Maison Mystique does not announce itself. It accumulates - vine-draped archways, a hidden whisky lounge behind a door that gives nothing away, glass domes of preserved butterflies frozen mid-flutter - until the place stops feeling like a hotel and starts feeling like a house that has been quietly waiting for …

Palacio del Inka, Cusco - Inside a 500-Year-Old Mansion: Stone, Gold, and a Baby Alpaca Named Inti

Most hotels describe themselves as historic. Palacio del Inka was a palace, then a Spanish colonial mansion, then a museum, and is now asking if you'd like a pisco sour. The stones - massive, fitted without mortar with an Incan precision that has outlasted earthquakes - belonged to Qorikancha, the …
